Dr.
Crescenzo, a native of Southern New Jersey,
attended Loyola College for undergraduate
studies in both biology and computer
science. Dr. Crescenzo received both his
doctorate of medicine and general surgery
training from Georgetown University. While
in Washington DC, Dr. Crescenzo was involved
in cardiac research at the Food and Drug
Administration and the National Institute of
Health. He was the recipient of a National
Academy of Science grant to study the
biology of homograft aortic valves. Dr.
Crescenzo was also involved as a coordinator
of the Neonatal Extracorporeal Membrane
Oxygenation program.
Dr.
Crescenzo received his cardiac surgical
training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,
Minnesota. While at the Mayo Clinic, Dr.
Crescenzo received extensive training in
valvular heart surgery including mitral
valve reconstructive techniques. He was the
recipient of the O.T. Clagett Travel award
during his last year of training.
In 1998,
Dr. Crescenzo joined the cardiovascular
surgical staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where he was also
actively involved in the General Surgery
Residency program. Dr. Crescenzo has
received academic appointments at the
University of Pennsylvania Hospital and
Allentown Community College School of
Physician Assistants. He has presented at
several National Scientific meetings and has
authored numerous papers in the
cardiovascular journals.
Dr.
Crescenzo is a Diplomat of the American
Board of Surgery and The American Board of
Thoracic Surgery. He joined the staff at
The Toledo Hospital in 2000. His areas of
interest include valvular heart surgery,
aortic reconstruction, coronary artery
revascularization and Thoracic Surgery.
Dr.
Crescenzo and his wife Maura have two
children.
